Inspiration Is In Everything

Okay, so ignore the Funyuns bag in the background (hunger called), but look at how cute this cup is!! (That’s pink lemonade it in for those who were wondering). Where did I get it? You ask. Well, my sister, Shelbie (or as I call her, sis) made it for me. She can pretty much make anything you want on a cup or t-shirt. She’s inexpensive and pretty awesome. Her little business is called Shelbie Rae’s Trends & Trinkets. She’s on Etsy, so check her out! Just message her her idea and she will work with ya. Seriously, she’s made me all kinds of t-shirts, so if you’ve seen a shirt on me that you liked, more than likely it was made by her.

Moving on…

I’m OBSESSED with foxes. Like it’s a very unhealthy obsession. I have fox blankets (the ones that come out around Christmas time at Wal-Mart), a fox scentsy warmer; I even took the Patronous quiz on Pottermore and mine was a fox. (I’m also a Slytherin for those of you who are wondering). Foxes are beautiful and I find them inspiring.

You know what else I find inspiring? Music. All day, every day.

Spotify Premium–seriously, if you don’t have it you’re missing out (if you’re a student, it’s $5 a month). Lately, I’ve been venturing deeper into all the Indie music out in the world. Here are a few I’m totes obsessing over right now:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

LANY

Yoke Lore

Night Riots

I didn’t attach links or anything, but check them out. They’re pretty good! If you want song suggestions, just ask! 🙂

Music is probably the number one thing that I draw inspiration from in all things–to carry on when my day is sucko, to lighten my mood, lift my glum spirit. And, well, music seriously makes every situation better and more enjoyable.

Another wonderful thing that gets me all inspired and whatnot is words words words. And coffee. And movies like “Casablanca” because romance like that just does not exist anymore. I’m getting a little sidetracked here. I’m going through a bit of a sugar-rush. I’ve like three glasses of lemonade and about seven gummy bears (the green ones are my fav). Every wonder who the hell thought to make gummy bears? Like gooey-sugar in the shape of a bear? Weird thought of the day.

Anyways, I’ve been thinking about how inspiration is kinda important in my every day life, and not just because of writing, but because of just in general. I mean all of the things around me effect me in some different kind of way: my family, the people I talk to throughout my day, the things I see, etc… It could be a tree or a rock or a bird or an older couple holding hands as they walk across the parking lot. Either way, there’s so much that inspires me, and sometimes I’m too occupied or rushed to even notice it.

I remember being a little girl thinking how big and blue the sky was. I mean, I couldn’t get over how huge the sky was. At the time I was obsessed with Winnie the Pooh, and I had just watched the one called “A Rather Blustery Day“. The song is catchy. I was actually inspired by it and how Pooh was literally jumping from page to page. And then. Poor Piglet gets swooped up by a leaf, and Pooh is holding onto a thread of his scarf to keep him from blowing away in the sky. Now, as a five year old this was terrifying. So much in fact that I refused to hold balloons. My mom actually tried to get me to once, and I screamed bloody-murder because I was just expecting the thing to carry me away like Piglet had been.

Every now and then I try to remember what it was like when I was a kid, and how my mind worked back then versus now. I saw things through a completely different lens back then–so it seems, anyways–with more color and imagination. I dunno. Maybe I’m just rambling here, and you have no idea what I’m talking about. I just think that inspiration comes from anything and everything.

This. First time I read this I was just. Dead. Rupi Kaur’s book, Milk & Honey, is filled with words and phrases and wonderful things such as this. And the way I feel when I read something as soul-touching as this–that’s the kind of inspiration that I need to stay alive; to keep creating; to keep me going.

Okay, so I know I went pretty deep, but so what? Spring break is wrapping up. I’ve already got professors emailing out assignments for next week. Yippee. So I’ve got less than a couple days of freedom left.

Also here’s some wise advice for the day:

I have no freakin’ clue who said this, but it’s inspiring and awesome. Seriously, “Save your fucks for magical shit.” Has become my mantra. (Sorry for the language and all.)

Hope you found something in this inspiring. If not, go find some magical shit to inspire you!

Until next time.
