Busy Seasons Require Lots of Coffee

Light photo sessions are always fun. Especially when they involve coffee.

2018 came at me and it didn’t waste any time. The semester is in full swing.

Work + Scheduler + Internship at UAFS Library + Classes + Social Life + Eating gluten free + drinking enough water

Busy seasons are both good and bad in my book. They tend to bring a bunch stress, but at the same time challenge you in areas you may need it in. At least, that’s how it is for me. This semester is different than the fall. Not only because my classes are different, but because my schedule is a little more crammed. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly overwhelmed at the moment. There’s was quite a few mental breakdowns in the first couple of days. I’m adjusting to my busy, fast paced schedule, though. Slowly but surely. No worries. I will survive.

On top of work and classes, I recently landed an internship at the UAFS library. It was super unexpected and such an amazing opportunity. It consists of lots of indexing and digitalizing. Two things I knew nothing about. For starters, it’s harder than it sounds, indexing, picking apart articles, summarizing, and adding them into a very complex system. And it’s VERY time consuming! So give your local librarian a smile every now and then, because they work their butts off. Lately, I’ve been thinking about going into a career as a librarian. I’m not entirely sure yet. Luckily, I have time and don’t have to have it all figured out at this particular moment in my life! All I know is that I want to do something that involves books and writing. It’s vague and not really planned out, but it’s all I’ve got right now, so it’ll have to do.

In the midst of all of the craziness, I started thinking about the things (like coffee) that make busy seasons bearable for me. Aside from family and friends, there’s music and hiking and browsing record stores and buying books and my puppies. Just little things that consist of my every day life. So, I felt like sharing these things with y’all.

• There are four songs I have on repeat right now. I listen to them at least ten times a day. It’s pretty bad. But anyways, check them out by clicking on the links!  { “California” by Wilder // “Chateau” by Angus & Julia Stone // “Hotels (Tk)” by Mr. Carter Davis // “Compass” by The Neighbourhood }

• Coffee: Nantucket blend (Green Mountain) and the Veranda blend (Starbucks) are my go-to blends right now.

• I’ve been going back and forth from “The Great Gatsby” By F. Scott Fitzgerald and “Most of All of You” by Mia Sheridan. Gatsby is always a great read, and Fitzgerald amazes me with his writing every time! “Most of All of You” is good so far. I’m only a third of the way through it. My reading-for-pleasure time thins out when classes are in session, but it’s become a determination for me to squeeze a couple in this semester.

• Mia Thermopolis & Paris France – AKA my adorable pups. There’s nothing sweeter than coming home after a long day to them wagging their tails and jumping on my legs, begging for kisses.

• The fact that in exactly one month and three weeks it will be spring break, and I will be on my way to Florida. I know, such a cliché. College kid going to Florida for SP. But I really don’t care to be typical at the moment, because I love the ocean and this trip is like the light at the end of this really long, dark tunnel that consists of COLLEGE right now. (I’m a little dramatic, okay.)

There’s other things that I haven’t got to do yet, because my schedule is too hectic right now. Hiking and live music are at the top of my to do list.

Anyways, these are just some things that keep me sane amidst a busy season.

Let me know some things you do during your busy seasons!!

Until next time! ❤
